Stress free SATs with EducationCity.com

It’s nearly SATs (Standard Assessment Tests) time and children all over the country are busy revising for the tests that will determine how well they are progressing.

Children can get worried and anxious in the run up to and during these tests, so it is important to make sure that they keep their stress levels to a minimum so that they can perform to their best ability.

One of the best ways is to make sure that children are fully prepared without putting too much pressure on them.  EducationCity.com is an award winning resource that combines fun and learning and it is already a huge success with teachers in over 8,000 schools throughout the UK.

Children can continue their education at home through the use of engaging, fun activities, plus there are practice SATs tests on the site so that they can make sure that they are fully prepared.

EducationCity.com have compiled some hints and tips to show how you can make sure children have stress free SATs.

  • Practise – teachers will give children SATS papers from previous years so that children can get used to them and feel confident.  Later on, they will usually be sat under exam conditions to get used to that environment.

  • Remember that there is no pass or fail – SATS are a way of measuring how well children are doing at that stage of their education.

  • Relax – children need to learn how to relax so that they are more confident in the tests and perform to the best of their ability.

  • There are no surprises! – children will only be tested on what they have been learning at school, so there won’t be any surprises.

  • Plenty of Sleep - the best way to prepare for anything is to get plenty of sleep the night before to make sure that children are bright and alert.

  • Exercise - a great stress buster!  Running, jumping, playing with friends will make children feel relaxed and happy and if they are having trouble sleeping – it can help that too!

  • Be positive – we can all be our own worst enemy at times of anxiety.  Being positive can create a good mood.  Make lists to show some of the things that they have done that have been really good; this will make them feel proud and help positivity.

  • Go online and have a look at EducationCity.com and get involved in the fun activities or have a go at old Sats papers.  Children will have fun without even realising that they are also revising and preparing themselves for the tests.
