Back to school with EducationCity.com

As the Summer holiday draws to a close, parents start to think about getting the children ready to go back to school.

The uniform has been bought, nametags attached and children have had fun choosing their cool new school bag, pencil case and accessories.  This is also a great time to get them involved with www.EducationCity.com, the resource that helps them to continue their education at home through the use of engaging, fun activities.  They will enjoy it so much, that they won’t even realise that it is helping them with their schoolwork! It doesn’t matter whether your children are beginning their first or fifth year, EducationCity.com have lots of top tips to make their start to the school year the easiest it has ever been!

Be Prepared - make sure that all the uniform is bought in advance so that you aren’t rushing around at the last moment and panicking.  Buy at least two of everything and ensure that they are all labelled with your child’s name.

No Surprises – children are anxious about new things, so try and find out as much as possible before their first day.  Try and get involved and see if the school have open days or events where the children can meet their teacher and see their classroom.

Routine – going back to school brings about a new routine after the relaxation of summer holidays.  Start to get them used to getting up earlier and doing everything they need to do in a morning without rushing.  Don’t just do this for a couple of days before but give them plenty of time to get used to this new schedule.

Early Nights – this may seem basic but children need to get plenty of sleep to ensure that they have an enjoyable and productive day at school. Relax – children can pick up on the moods of adults around them and if a parent is anxious then so will the child.  Be relaxed and positive about the new school term and it will help everyone around you to feel the same way too. Talking – make sure that you talk to your children about the new term.  Encourage them to discuss any fears both before and once they have started back at school.

Breakfast - eating a well balanced breakfast will fuel children and make sure that that they have enough energy to keep them going until break or lunch time.

Home Learning – try and encourage a positive and supportive learning environment at home, whether it is through books, puzzles, art or computers.

EducationCity.com is a great way of encouraging children to continue their education at home through enjoyable yet rewarding activities.  This award winning resource combines fun and learning and in addition to the new home programme, the schools version is already a huge success with teachers in over 8,000 schools throughout the UK.
