PARENTS TAKE TO HOME EDUCATING FOLLOWING TEACHERS STRIKE

Following yesterday’s teachers' strike, which affected over 8000 schools and 1 million children, parents have been taking matters into their own hands. EducationCity.com, a new educational resource reported a huge surge in uptake of their free trials on Thursday morning with a staggering 500 people taking advantage of the 10-day trial.

Far from letting kids spend the day watching TV or on the Playstation, it seems parents are wanting to make every second count in the run up to the all important SATs exams at the end of May and a teachers strike isn’t going to get in the way.

Linked to Foundation and Key Stages 1, 2 and 3 of the National Curriculum, the award winning EducationCity.com is a resource that as well as being available in many schools can now be subscribed to by parents at home. The free ten-day trial allows children and their parents to access over 5000 activities centred around the core subjects of Maths, English, Science and Modern Foreign Languages. There are even practice SATs papers to help children prepare for these important tests.

Luke Bettridge, Marketing Director at EducationCity.com comments:

“We were staggered on Thursday morning to discover that the uptake of our free trials had increased ten fold by 9am when children should normally be sat at their desks. The teachers' strike was undoubtedly a factor. EducationCity.com is already subscribed to by over 8000 schools, so many families are aware of us. Parents obviously took the opportunity to continue with their child’s every day learning at home.”

Luke continues “Luckily for the children, EducationCity.com has activities that are fun and interactive and don’t feel like boring schoolwork so I don’t think parents will have had too many complaints!”

Annual subscription to EducationCity.com starts at only £29.95 and included in this price are weekly updates and an online and telephone support service.
