Whats New?

In addition to upgrading and adding new activities every week we also add new features to the resource to enhance functionality or address new educational strategies. Some of our recent important upgrades are shown below:

Themes - October 2008

A new addition to the Early Years Foundation module, the topics area contains seven cross-curricular themes containing 5 activities which tell a story to help teach infants.

Level select - September 2008

You can now select the academic year group before selecting a subject which provides a more logical path for users.

EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) - September 2008

EYFS has replaced the Foundation stage module and is now mapped to the Early Learning goals set out in the EYFS Framework rather than the Primary Framework.

MFL changes - August 2008

All three MFL subjects are now accessible through the specific academic year groups rather than QCA levels as all activities are now mapped to the new Framework for languages. As QCA 1-4 and 5-12 are now all in KS2 we have created our own Early Years French module, designed by an educationalist you can use these activities as an introduction to French with your pupils.

Whiteboard activity sheets – January 2008
New whiteboard versions of our activity sheets are now available.
This adds a new tool set so that they can be used in a whole class teaching format, as a lesson starter or to consolidate learning.

Topic Filter – November 2007
The quickest way of finding appropriate activities for pupils is by using this new feature, so that the screen will only show activities related to a topic you have chosen. The Topic Filter is located in the top left corner of each activity select screen.

Letters and Sounds – September 2007
Supporting the recent government programme; Letters and Sounds: Principles and Practice of High Quality Phonics, 2007, the letter screens maintain the development of speaking and listening skills as well as the systematic teaching of phonic knowledge and skills. The Letters and Sounds area has 54 activities and enables you to change the sequence in which the activities are visually presented on screen in order to compliment the different Phonics schemes used by teachers in class such as Jolly Phonics or Read, Write Inc. EducationCity.com won an award for this module in 2008.

Tests – July 2007
The unique TESTS module allows children to practice SATs papers, resulting in a National Curriculum level. In addition the resource then analyses the results and constructs a revision pathway for each child to guide them in the next steps in their learning. In addition our Self Assessment feature confirms a pupil’s confidence with certain concepts Peer Assessment adds an additional learning style to this amazing teaching tool.

German – May 2007
The final subject addition to our Modern Foreign Languages range, our German module is a fantastic introduction to the language. Covering key skills and vocabulary, children are immersed in a new cultural experience.

Spanish – March 2007
Due to its global influence, many schools are now teaching Spanish in preference to the more traditional French. Our Spanish module introduces this wonderful language and culture to young children.

Activity sheets – January 2007
To extend learning we have created themed, printable, worksheets for each activity. These can be printed from each activity, for the child to complete afterwards.
